Zendaya Shuts Down Rumors That She’s Pregnant: “Just Making Stuff Up”

Zendaya is speaking up after rumors spread on TikTok that she’s pregnant and expecting a baby with boyfriend Tom Holland.

As broken down by The Cut, the whole thing started via a TikTok trend called #Krissed, which sets up a false premise to lure in the viewer and then pranks them, revealing they’ve been #Krissed. (The reveal is set to a video of Kris Jenner dancing — it’s basically the 2022 version of the Rickroll.) Several #Krissed videos centering on Zendaya floated around the platform, including a fake sonogram designed to look like an Instagram post from Zendaya’s account and a Photoshopped pic of Z with a baby bump under a gold jacket.

If you watch the full videos (they’re not long), you’ll see the #Krissed reveal, but apparently some folks didn’t stop before scrolling on and believed the fake posts to be real. Soon after, Zendaya started trending on Twitter because of the rumored pregnancy, and now the actor has posted a statement to shut down the whole thing.

Z took to her Instagram Stories on June 15, writing: “See now, this is why I stay off Twitter… Just making stuff up for no reason… weekly.”

“Anyway back to filming Challengers,” she continued in the next slide with a tennis ball emoji. Z will play a former tennis player-turned-coach in Luca Guadagnino’s upcoming romantic sports drama, which she’s currently filming in Boston.

As a reminder, while it can be fun to make silly videos for TikTok and follow trends, it’s never OK to speculate or spread rumors about your favorite celebrities, especially when it comes to such private topics such as pregnancy. As Zendaya clearly stated in her response, making things up for no reason other than going viral has real repercussions, especially for the people involved in the rumors. The #Krissed videos may be funny, but it’s best to respect Z and Tom’s privacy.
