John Cena will return to WWE on Monday night when he appears on Raw. Cena’s appearance is part of a 20-year anniversary celebration of his time with the promotion.
Cena’s return for the celebration could well turn into something larger as there are rumors surrounding Cena potentially wrestling at SummerSlam. That event takes place on Saturday, July 30, from Nissan Stadium in Nashville.
Cena has been linked to a potential program with Theory, the current United States champion. The two have exchanged many teases of a potential clash on social media and Theory has also mentioned Cena in multiple segments on WWE television and web programming.
The last time Cena wrestled in an on-screen match was at SummerSlam 2021, losing to Roman Reigns in a match for the universal championship. He wrestled one time since the Reigns match, teaming with The Mysterios in a dark match to beat The Bloodline on Sept. 10, 2021.
