The Cardiff Half Marathon returns to the Welsh capital today for the first time since 2019.

More than 25,000 people are registered for the 18th edition of the event, which was originally scheduled for October 2020 before being delayed due to the Covid pandemic.

The half marathon wheelchair race will start at 9.50am then the main race will begin at 10am outside Cardiff Castle.

Participants can join in with a moment of applause at the start line in solidarity with those affected by Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Runners are likely to start crossing the finish line at around 11am in King Edward VII Avenue, Cathays Park.

Organiser Run 4 Wales is also putting on a Cardiff Half Junior event to start at 11.15am, including a Toddler Dash, Fun Run and a competitive Future Challengers race.

The route will go past Cardiff City Stadium, Cardiff Bay and Roath Park Lake. You can see the full list of road closures and their timings here.
