Rising superstar Ryan Garcia returns to the ring on Saturday night for a fight one year in the making. Garcia faces off with Javier Fortuna in a super lightweight clash from Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
Garcia and Fortuna were supposed to meet last summer, but Garcia withdrew from the fight to focus on his mental health. Now, one year later, Garcia is looking to add Fortuna to his list of victims as he inches closer to a potential showdowns with other big names in the stacked lightweight division.
Garcia’s big focus has been on a fight with Gervonta “Tank” Davis, a fight that may be hard to make due to boxing politics, but one that fans have demanded as both fighters have talked it up during their rise through the 135-pound division.
Fortuna’s camp asked for the fight to be moved from lightweight to super lightweight ahead of the clash, resulting in the fight being moved up a weight class from its planned spot at lightweight.
