Oregon Ducks football team is mourning the loss of tight end Spencer Webb. The teams tight end was identified by police as a person that accidentally slipped and fell to his death.

According to reports, a young man died after falling and hitting his head near Triangle Lake west of Eugene, and was later identified as University of Oregon football player Spencer Webb.

This happened around 2:30pm, when police responded to calls of an injured person in the area. When deputies arrived they found the 22-year-old pass catcher was on an area with rock slides and fell hitting his head.

People tried to revive him with paramedics but unfortunately Webb succumbed to his injuries. Sheriff’s office search-and-rescue staff went out to help with bringing him back to the roadway, as he was roughly 100 yards down a steep trail.

Police would not identify the man, but the Oregon staff and teammates did. Webb was from Sacramento, California.
