The biggest superstars in the NBA are known for their abilities on the basketball court, but there are other metrics for success as well. The contracts they can earn, the accolades they can achieve, and the stats they can put up all factor into what counts as success in the league.
And by all those metrics, few can claim to be as accomplished as Giannis Antetokounmpo is despite being only 27. He has been a champion, a two-time MVP, a Finals MVP, and a Defensive Player Of The Year already. But there is one other metric of stardom and that is being involved in show business, which many people like Shaquille O’Neal, Michael Jordan, and LeBron James have all done.
Now, Giannis hasn’t starred in a movie yet, but he has had a movie made about his life that was released this year, called Rise, even though he isn’t the biggest fan of Los Angeles. The Disney movie is about the story of the Antetokounmpo family, who left Nigeria to move to Greece and struggled hard before their sons eventually made it to the league.
And as his family got ready to go and watch the premiere of this film, Antetokounmpo shared several lovely pictures on Twitter showing how far they have come from their humble origins.

Antetokounmpo’s story and that of his family is an inspiration to millions around the globe, showing that even coming from a life of hardship, anyone can make it to the top with talent and hard work. His humility and love for his family are also what make Giannis one of the most lovable superstars in the league today.
The Greek Freak may have accomplished a lot in his career so far, but his competitive spirit means he will be hungry to achieve a lot more. Having brought the Milwaukee Bucks their first championship in 2021, Antetokounmpo will be gunning to get back to winning ways again next season. Until then, he’s earned some time to spend with his lovely family.
