db cooper: D.B. Cooper: Where Are You?’: Unravel mystery behind real-crime documentary. Find out where to watch

The arrival of a true-crime documentary on Netflix, ‘D.B. Cooper: Where Are You?’ comes with many curious questions. It depicts the chronicles of a remarkable yet unsolved FBI mystery: The D.B. Cooper hijacking.

A man named Dan Cooper, who boarded a flight, claimed that he had a bomb in his briefcase. The man demanded parachute and a large amount of cash from one of the attendants of the flight. Later, he escaped with the money.

The latest four-part documentary series will depict the fascinating mystery of Cooper’s identity, which is still unknown, even after 50 years.

‘D.B. Cooper: Where Are You?’ story
On November 24, 1971, a man named Dan Cooper bought a one-way ticket of a Northwest Orient Airlines flight from Portland, to Seattle, Washington.

After boarding the flight, Cooper gave a note to one of the flight attendants around 3 pm. It read that Cooper had a bomb in his briefcase and was hijacking the plane. Cooper then revealed a bundle of red sticks and some wires in his briefcase. He told the attendant to write a ransom note as he dictated, demanding $200,000 in $20 bills and four parachutes. After penning down, the attendant passed the note to the flight’s captain.

As the flight halted in Seattle, Cooper allowed 36 passengers to get off in exchange for parachutes and money, although he held crew members on board and commanded to set a new course for Mexico City.

He then jumped off the plane with a parachute and ransom money at a place between Seattle and Reno at around 8 pm. Although the plane landed in Reno, no one saw Cooper again.

After the event, the FBI launched several investigations for Northwest Hijacking, interviewed hundreds of people across the US, and around 800 suspects were found by the fifth anniversary of the Cooper hijacking, but they could never find Cooper.

The FBI redirected the investigation resources allocated for the Cooper case to other essential priorities in 2016.

Is it a real story?
Yes, ‘D.B. Cooper: Where Are You?’ is a real story as he escaped with $200,000 in cash, which amounts to $1.4 million.

One of the possible solutions for the mystery could be that maybe Cooper did not survive the fall as he could not steer his parachute, and his shoes could not support a rough landing.

Another evidence was found when an eight-year-old found a bag with $60000 in $20 bills with similar serial numbers as the money given to Cooper on a beach near Columbia River.

Although there are a few pieces of evidence, the mystery remains unsolved and unclear.

‘D.B. Cooper: Where Are You?’ trailer has been released on Netflix, and the series will start streaming on Netflix on Wednesday, July 13.
