Lunar fanatics will want to gaze skyward on Wednesday, as the moon will be at its very biggest and brightest of the year.
Wednesday, July 13, marks the moon’s closest approach of the year, when it will come within 221,993 miles from the Earth (on average, it is 238,855 miles away). That will result in a full moon that appears slightly larger and brighter than usual – an event that has colloquially been dubbed a “supermoon.”
