Hamilton Accies boss hopes the striker can fire them up the Championship table

Hamilton Accies boss Stuart Taylor hopes striker Andy Winter is hitting form at the right time to take his side further up the Championship table.

Taylor hopes that continues on Saturday against an Arbroath side he says they owe a victory against, even though he feels they deserve to be challenging at the top end of the table.

Winter, 20, struck his third goal in as many games in Friday’s 1-1 draw at Ayr United, but Taylor says he’s not a new Accies hero because he’s been in and around the first-team for years.

Taylor says Winter is one of the best finishers at the club, and that has shown in recent games.

He said: “I think he’s hitting form at the right time, definitely, he’s always been one where we’ve known exactly what he can do.

“When I came here at first he was out a long time with injury, and it was a case of trying to get him back in, get him game-time, trying to get him built up.
