Boxing LIVE: ‘On edge’ Gallen admits ‘fear of failure’ amid betting plunge on opponent

NRL premiership winner Paul Gallen has conceded he has a “fear of failure” and is “on edge” heading into his Australian heavyweight title fight with Kris Terzievski.

Speaking before the bout on NRL 360, Gallen was asked to compare his nerves tonight to before a Grand Final.

“It is (like a Grand Final). The difference is you’re on your own – you get a fear of failure on your own,” he said on Fox League.

“I do fear failure and going out there and getting taken (down), carried out on your back. There’s fear there.

“But it all comes down to your preparation. When I played footy I prepared really well and I do the same for boxing.”

“I feel like I’m busting out and just want to just get in there and get it done. You just want to jump out of your skin and get going.”

The 27-year-old was in his younger sibling’s corner and barked out instructions throughout the fight before Nikita ended proceedings in the second round.
