The Beatles Celebrate Ringo Starr's Birthday With Awesome Video Compilation

The Beatles drummer, Sir Richard Starkey MBE, better known by his stage name Ringo Starr, is celebrating his 82nd birthday today!

Born on July 7, 1940, Starr found massive success within the band, but also in a solo career, frequently touring with various iterations of Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band, which in the past featured Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Nicks, Pete Townshend, and even Paul McCartney

The band’s social media pages commemorated the big day with a great video compilation showing clips of Starr in various Beatles projects over the years, alongside fellow bandmates McCartney, John Lennon, and George Harrison.

Set to the song, “With a Little Help from My Friends,” written by Lennon and McCartney, sung by Starr and featured on the 1967 album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, the clip includes milestone moments from his lengthy career and even behind-the-scenes footage.

Many other friends sent well wishes, including McCartney, who noted that it was also his father Jim McCartney’s birthday.

“Peace to the world on Ringo’s birthday. Same day as my Dad. Two very special men! Love Paul x,” he captioned the post. 

Yoko Ono, a fellow musician and widow of Lennon, also shared a sweet birthday message, posting a photo with Starr along with the caption: “Happy Birthday Ringo! @ringostarrmusic Imagine Peace and lots of love, yoko.”

In 2018, Starr participated in a “bed-in” activism event with Ono in New York City, recreating her and Lennon’s famous Bed-ins for Peace protests of the Vietnam War in 1969. The event commemorated the launch of the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus, as reported by Mashable.

Singer and songwriter Carole King also wished Starr a happy birthday by posting a photo of herself doing the drummer’s signature peace sign pose, which fits with his well-known motto, “peace and love.” 

Alongside his famous friends, fans everywhere are honoring the musician on his birthday, posting messages of well wishes, fan art, old images of the drummer during his Beatles day, and more on social media.
